Thomas Sloan Bio

IT IS NO SECRET WHAT GOD CAN DO! This phrase has echoed in Thomas Sloan's mind countless times in the last few years. In 1989 a motorcycle accident almost claimed Thomas' life. It left him with a crushed jaw, damaged vocal cords, a broken finger and a burned and scarred body. Through the miracle-working power of Jesus Christ, Thomas is able to proclaim the greatness of God in word and song in a different way than before - knowing that God spared his life for His purpose.

Born in South Carolina, Thomas was the last of nine children born to pioneer preachers. As he matured, his greatest desire was to be involved in full-time ministry. This was fulfilled in 1973 when "The Singing Sloans" was organized. After they disbanded, he served for a short time as an associate minister and youth pastor, but returned to full-time singing when he joined LaVerne Tripp ministries as a singer. In 1979 Thomas moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to serve as a vocalist for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. He became the Crusade Band Director in 1981 and helped to prepare the music for Crusades and Campmeetings in over 20 countries and has seen hundreds of thousands of lives changed by the power of Jesus Christ.

In 1984 Thomas met Sheila Lemley, a music professor from Arkansas. They became friends and several years later, Sheila left full-time teaching to join the Crusade Team as a back-up singer.

In June of 1989, Thomas was returning home from a date with Sheila, when his motorcycle lost control. He slid, face first, more than 300 feet down the Interstate. Sheila was notified some minutes later, and with the aid of family and friends, nursed Thomas back to health during the following months. The doctors said that it would be a year or more before he would be able to resume a normal schedule, and there was a possibility that he would never sing again due to the damaged vocal cords. But praise God!!! In three months, Thomas was back to work, singing for the Lord. It truly is no secret what God can do!

Thomas and Sheila were married in December 1990. The beginning of a TEAM fulfilling the purpose of God in their lives. They are blessed with two wonderful children who have joined them in ministry.

Presently, Thomas and Sheila are involved in full-time ministry and evangelism. They are available for church services, revivals, campmeetings, and praise and worship seminars. This anointed ministry will be a blessing to you.
